Twitter Ban: Call to slam Buhari’s Twitter account gets louder

Following his administration’s decision to a slam suspension order on Twitter operations in the country, more and more Nigerians have taken to the social media (including Twitter), calling on Twitter to suspend President Muhammadu Buhari’s account with the platform.

The Federal Government, on Friday suspended indefinitely the operations of the intrrnstional micro-blogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.

The Minister for Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said that the persistent use of the platform for activities that were capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence could no longer be entertained.

At the time of writing this report, done six hours after the announcement of the suspension, the platform was working normally across the country.

Checks by SAHELIAN TIMES indicated that there were over 65,000 (sixty-five thousand) tweets calling for the suspension of the president’s own Twitter account.
