Two suspected motorcycle thieves lynched in Kano

Two suspected motorcycle thieves have been burnt to death by an angry mob at Rimi village in Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident occurred yesterday night at about 10pm at Kwanar Kasuwa in Rimi village.

The suspects were said to have stopped a motorcyclist and tried to snatch his motorbike.

An eyewitness told SAHELIAN TIMES that luck, however, ran against the suspects as the man raised the alarm, attracting some youths by the roadside to the scene.

The angry mob reportedly descended on the attackers, killing one of the suspected robbers.

“They killed him, beating and setting him ablaze at the escene at Kwanar Kasuwa”, the eyewitness said.

Nonetheless, a team of policemen eventualy rushed to the scene and rescued one of theives but the angry mob allegedly attacked and destroyed the police post, as they outnumbered the policemen.

The irate youths reportedly overpowered the security personnel, seized the second suspect and also burnt him to death.

When contacted by SAHELIAN TIMES, the police public relations officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and said that the police command was investigating the matter.
