The senator representing Kaduna North Central in the National Assembly, Uba Sani, has declared his intention to contest for the 2023 governorship election of the state.
Sani who made his intention known at the All Progressive Congress (APC) secretariat also soughthe support of the party chieftans in the state.
While making the declaration in Kaduna on Tuesday said that he was at the APC party secreteriat to sought th support and cooperation of party members.
“I came to inform you of my intention to contest for the governorship seat under the APC. I also need your support to achieve this aim,” he said.
The senator also commended Governor Nasir El-Rufai for moving the state forward.
Sani’s announcement came less than twenty hours after Kaduna State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi declared his interest to run for the state’s governorship elections.

“I remain deeply proud and honoured with the rare opportunity afforded me by the governor to learn under his leadership and to contribute to the process that has delivered incredible progress that Kaduna State has witnessed in the last seven years.
“With a front seat in government, first as a commissioner, later as Chief of Staff, and again as commissioner; I have had the privilege to contribute to the debate and understudy the thinking behind every policy intervention and decision of the APC government. I am confident of my ability to sustain all that has been achieved so far and continue to move Kaduna forward.
“The desire to guarantee continuity in governance, especially in the area of evolving development in the state, has largely fueled my interest in the 2023 gubernatorial contest. As a development practitioner, I’m conscious of the danger of retrogression and the need to ensure that the gains we’ve made as a State are not reversed under whatever circumstances.
“I am therefore putting myself forward based on the need to ensure the continuity of excellent performance we’ve witnessed in the last 7 years. My immediate priority is to sustain the current level of achievements and to build on them to advance the development of Kaduna State, expand its security and prosperity and grow a vibrant economy that is driven by quality service and transparent leadership,” he said.
When asked to reveal his chosen candidate for the Kaduna government house in 2023 during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, El-Rufai stated that his preference is in his core team.
“My preference is for our core team, which consists of the first 11 members.” “I said core team because these are the guys who have been working with me since 2014 to organize our party, our campaign, and we won and were elected,” El-Rufai explained.
Both Sani and Abdullahi are among the “first 11” members, having both been working since 2014.
