Intrigues and suspense as the three Senators from Jigawa State and four House of Representatives members lost their bid to return to the National Assembly.
Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia and Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu contested for governorship tickets and lost, while Senator Dandali Sankara lost his bid to return to Senate.
Hadejia, a two-term deputy governor and senator from the Jigawa State’s North East Senatorial District, and Nakudu, a senator from the State’s South West Senotorial District, were defeated by the incumbent deputy governor, Umar Namadi, with 1220 votes.
Mukhtar Zanna, the local government chairperson for the Kazaure council area, defeated the popular Kazaure, who reportedly has a running battle with the state governor, Muhammad Badaru, as well as the local chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Honourable Ado Sani Kiri, Honourable Shitu Galambi, and Honourable Fagen Gawo also failed to win re-election in the just concluded primaries.
