The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has clarified that candidates and visitors under the age of 18 are not required to present COVID-19 vaccination cards before using its facilities.
The board previously announced a “no vaccination card, no entry” policy for its facilities across the country.
JAMB disclosed this in a statement, signed by its head of media and protocol unit, Fabian Benjamin, on Tuesday.
He noted that mandated to provide vaccination cards, according to Benjamin, are those covered by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) vaccination policy.
According to him, JAMB discovered that many underage candidates are rushing to get vaccinated, with some lying about their age to gain access to services at the board’s facilities.
He added that the board would require proof of age before allowing any underage individual access to its facilities.
“All candidates, clients, and other members of the public below the age of 18 years are not required to produce any vaccination card before being allowed access to our facilities,” the JAMB statement read in part.
“This category of persons is not covered by the NCDC vaccination policy.”
