Kano State Government has denied demolishing the mosque of embattled cleric, Sheikh Abduljabbar Kabara, as erroneously reported by some local and international media organizations.

Earlier today (Saturday), the state government demolished some structures very close to the mosque, where the cleric used to hold his weekly sermons.

The land is believed to be owned by the Kano State Ministry of Education since 2012 before it was sold out to individuals who immediately start erecting structures.

The State Ministry of education claimed the ownership of the plot and even placed a symbol of a proposed Government Arabic Girls Secondary School.

In an interview with SAHELIAN TIMES the Commissioner of Education said the land demolished in Filin Mushe on Saturday morning, 6th of February 2021, belongs to the state, not to Sheikh Abduljabar’s as reported by some media houses (not Sahelian Times).

Earlier this year, the State Ministry of Education placed a symbol of the proposed government Arabic girls secondary school but the symbol didn’t stop the owners to continue building structures.

This paper gathered that the land was earlier confiscated by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje administration for alleged lack of Certificate of Occupancy and was allocated to other individuals who have already commenced building structures on it before the demolition, on Saturday.

Earlier this week, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje banned Sheikh Abduljabbar Kabara from sermon in Kano and also ordered the closure of his mosques across the state for his alleged inciting and blasphemous sermons.
