Angry and disappointed worshippers left the Filin Mallawa, the new Eid ground prepared for prayers for the new Emir of Zazzau, HRH Amb Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, without praying because the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmed El-rufai arrived 42 minutes late.

The Eidul-Fitr prayer, which was slated for 9am, commenced at 09:44 because the Governor didn’t arrive on time. The Muslim faithfuls, especially those with small, crying children and women, had to leave due to the sunny weather condition and dusty nature of the field.

This is the first time in a century that people are praying on the new Filin Mallawa, which belongs to the ruling house of Mallawa, where the new Emir comes from.

Mutterings, grumblings and visible displeasure was all over the place as the people who came to show solidarity to the new king felt disrespected by both the Governor and Emir.

“This is the last time I’ll be praying here. They have no regard for people’s lives and wellbeing,” Ibrahim Tanimu, an angry worshipper said.

As at the time of writing this report, the traditional durbar hasn’t commenced yet.
