Youth protest against SARS disbandment ….. Call for reform

A group of Youth Organizations in Kano under the umbrella of Movement for SARS reformation on Wednesday conducted a peaceful protest criticizing the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), insisting reformation is a better option.

 The Inspector-General of Police Muhammad Adamu Muhammad on Sunday announced the disbandment of SARS squad, replacing it on Tuesday with Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).

Addressing Journalists during the protests in Kano, Comrade Khalid Sunusi Kani the convener of the youth’s group, called on the Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to extend their appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari on the need to reform the police and the squad, restructure the operations of the unit and ensure that the operatives selected to work under the unit are of physical, mental and professional standings.

The protesters moved to Kano State Government House to present a letter to the governor to be forward to the President.
