The Zamfara State House of Assembly has impeached the state’s Deputy Governor, Mahdi Gusau.

The lawmakers had earlier set a seven member panel to investigate the alleged impeachable offenses against the deputy governor.

The Committee which was led by Retired Justice Halidu Soba on Wednesday submitted the report to House.

Nasiru Mua’zu, Speaker of the House, accepted Justice Soba’s findings at the Assembly complex in Gusau, the state capital.

Oladipo Okpeseyi, a member of the panel, told the Speaker that the committee carried out its mandate with the utmost integrity.

According to him, the Nigerian Constitution does not provide the panel the authority to speak about its report or make it public to anyone.

Okpeseyi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said the probe panel only produced two copies of the report and has visited the assembly complex to present the report to the speaker.

In his remarks, Mua’zu promised to treat the report in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)
