Zamfara Governor appoints news SSG

The Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has appointed Kabiru Balarabe as the jww Secretary to the State Government.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director General, Media, Public Enlightenment and Communications, Yusuf Idris Gusau from Government House, Gusau.

The statement reads:

“His Excellency, the Zamfara State Executive Governor Hon. Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON (Shattiman Sokoto) has approved the appointment of a seasoned administrator and public servant, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, Sardaunan Dan Isa, as the new Secretary to Zamfara State Government. The appointment is with immediate effect.

Before his appointment, the new SSG was the state’s Head of Civil Service. He held the position since August 16, 2019 while the position of an acting SSG was added to him following the dissolution of the State Executive Council on May 31, this year, making him effectively perform the dual roles until his confirmation as SSG today.

Born in Dogon Kade, Kaura Namoda Local Government, on March 15, 1966, the new SSG is a dedicated Muslim. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from the University of Sokoto (now Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto). He is an internationally recognized Badminton player, for which he held various positions at both state and federal levels. He also served as a Private Secretary to the former president Shehu Shagari.

Alhaji Kabir Balarabe, who is the Sardauna of Dan Isa is also the Zamfara state as well as the North-West Zonal Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in addition to holding many other committee leadership positions and titles within and outside the state. He is happily married with children.”

This is coming a few weeks after the Governor dissolved his entire cabinet.
